Who We Are

We are a NO KILL, all breed, dog and cat rescue. We believe that GOD is instrumental in guiding us and our rescue each day. Amazing Grace is totally "manned" by volunteers. This organization literally would not be able to exist if not for all of the amazing individuals that come every day to love and care for the dogs and cats. 



In the beginning of the rescue I was the only one, besides my husband, who worked with the animals each day. Gradually volunteers started to arrive to help but there were often days that it was just me. One day, when I was very tired, I said a prayer and told God that I just couldn't care for the animals by myself. Ever since that day there has ALWAYS been someone at the Rescue to help me! God has blessed me with so many individuals that truly love animals!

There are so many opportunities to help!! We are a volunteer-run organization that relies on our volunteers to keep things going smoothly. No matter your level of experience, there are various opportunities to help at our local locations. Cuddling and socializing cats, walking dogs, bathing animals, assisting with adoption and vaccination events, assisting with transports, taking photos for the Facebook and Pet Adoption pages, washing crates, and assisting with laundry are all examples of ways to help.   • Tell me more about Amazing Grace Animal Rescue

    The Amazing Grace Animal Rescue has been a part of the Animal Shelter society since 2010. We are a group of volunteers dedicated to the welfare of all animals in Saginaw, MI. Our Animal Shelter is founded by Shawna Guiett who sets the policies and overseeday-to-day operations. Since it all started with one dog, "Grace" the Amazing Grace Animal Rescue has been active in all aspects of adoption, including outreach rescue programming, intake of stray animals, provision of food, water, and shelter, socialization, and medical treatment such as vaccines, spaying, and neutering. Animal Shelters like us also educate the public on the consequences of animal cruelty and neglect, and the benefits of proper care for all animals in our area. This is why we are a no kill, all breed facility.

  • I found a stray animal! What should I do?

    Whether or not you are able to safely contain the animal, please reach out to us as soon as possible for further instructions! The best way to reach us is by calling us directly at (989)792-0346 during office hours or any of our Emergency Contacts numbers if it's during a weekend or evening. 


  • How does the adoption process work?

    We love seeing happy animals go to loving new homes! After animals undergo a thorough intake process with complete medical care,  prospective adopters are able to  come meet and get to know the animals before the adoption process is started. Adopters must arrive in person to fill out adoption paperwork after scheduling an appointment on the Facebook Page. However, you can see what kind of new friends are available through their Adoption pages. Petfinder and Adopt A Pet.
